Reebok CrossFit Lifter 2.0 Review: Best Training Shoe Under $200

Reebok has established a firm foothold in the CrossFit market with a complete range of CrossFit training gear, ranging from sports apparel to footwear. They have an impressive range of CrossFit shoes that run the gamut from intro for the beginner to ultra for the experienced, hardcore athlete. Their range of men’s and women’s Cross Training shoe options are equally impressive.

The CrossFit Lifter 2.0 is Reebok’s state of the art offering top range cross training shoe to give the Cross Training athlete the versatility to step directly from heavy Oly lifting into their next Workout of the Day move without having to change footwear.

The Reebok CrossFit range begins with the mid priced Sprint Trainer, a shoe which is good for most weight bearing exercises but not ideal for heavy overheads or squatting. The CrossFit Nano 4.0 is the next step up, but still provides a low heel, which is not ideal for Oly lifting. The Reebok 2.0 adds a slight heel lift to make their flagship model the ideal offering for serious Cross Training athletes.

Features of Reebok Men’s CrossFit Lifter 2.0

The Men’s Reebok CrossFit 2.0 is a hybrid between the Reebok Nano and an Olympic weightlifting shoe. This means that the shoe is designed to handle other movements alongside Olympic weightlifting movements, including gymnastics and cardio.

The Reebok CrossFit 2.0 looks quite different to most lifters. The heel is not that pronounced. Neither is it a stable pressing surface. It does provide a good amount of cushion and compresses when you initiate your lift. Reebok refer to this mechanism as a spring system.

The Reebok Lifter has only one securing strap, but it works brilliantly. Unlike many weightlifting shoes, the Lifter 2.0 has a strap that locks at the top of the foot. However, this change in position only serves to enhance the rigidity of the locking mechanism.

The shoe fits true to size. They are pretty wide, making them surprisingly comfortable and lightweight. With the Men’s 2.0, Reebok have done away with the zigzags at the bottom of the shoe. This means no more punching holes in walls when you go to do handstand push-ups. The overhanging zigzag was a nagging problem with the 1.0’s.

So, how does the Men’s 2.0 actually perform? The heel will make a difference in your lifts, allowing you to go heavier as a result of the spring action. The shoe also manages surprisingly well during other movements. Even running short, quick distances is no problem in these shoes.

While not ideal for the hardcore lifter due to the lack of raised heel height, the Men’s Reebok 2.0 will be valuable for a lot of Cross Trainers, especially those who are competing.

Reebok Women’s CrossFit Lifter 2.0 Shoe Features

The Reebok Women’s CrossFit Lifter 2.0 training shoe is an upgrade of the original Lifter from Reebok. The shoe features breathable mesh in the toe for superior comfort and fit. The Women’s version of the Reebok Lifter 2.0 offers a stylish look and feel.

The heel design of the Reebok Cross-Fit Lifter is specifically engineered for extra response and efficiency. A special PEBAX TPU clip not only allows for this enhanced functionality, it also reduces the overall weight of the shoe.

The uppers of the Women’s CrossFit 2.0 are constructed of a synthetic material which allows for that all important breathability throughout the entire shoe.

The adjustable strap allows for secure foot lock, allowing for structural integrity when performing Oly lifting. The Lifter 2.0 has a generous toe box, allowing for freedom of movement in both width and height.

The tongue of the CrossFit Lifter 2.0 is extremely cushioning, providing superior comfort to the front of the foot. This provides superior hug to the entire foot while training. Reebok have infused the shoe with it’s 3-D Fuse Frame technology, providing a superior fit and comfort. The upshot of this is that there is no break-in period, meaning that when you first put the shoe on, it’s as if you’ve been wearing it for months.

Quite a number of online users have commented that the shoe gives off a strong chemically smell when they are first taken out of the box. Allowing the shoes to air out for a period of time before first taking them to the gym is recommended. Once this smell problem is eliminated, however, the breathability of the mesh design will prevent any further odor issues.

The Reebok Lifter 2.0 will allow women the peace of mind to know that they have the structural integrity to go heavy on their Oly lifts while also have the lightness and flexibility to handle the rigors of the most demanding Workout of the Day. Many women have mentioned that the Lifter 2.0 is a softer and more athletic feeling shoe than the Cross Trainers offered by competitor brands.
